The carnival, also known as carnival in many circles, is now once again on the doorstep. Children and adults alike look forward to the dressing up and the colourful hustle and bustle in the villages around the royal castles.
From 20.02. to 28.02.2020 numerous events will take place around the carnival. To make sure that everyone gets their money’s worth, we have put together the following highlights for you
SCHWANGAU
Every year the big carnival procession of Schwangau attracts thousands of visitors to the village of the royal castles. After all, for generations the village has been considered an absolute carnival stronghold far beyond the borders of the region. Numerous associations and delegations from surrounding villages and the neighbouring Tyrol come to Schwangau to take part in the big procession. Also in this year the visitors expect again numerous train numbers. Among them music bands, foot groups or motto carriages, which interpret the social events of the past year in their own unique way. The ceremonial conclusion of the parade is, according to custom, the Schwangau prince and princess couple on their prince’s carriage.
Here all children get their money’s worth! With music, games, and a big tombola, the little ones can really let off steam. The highlight is the visit of the prince and princess couple at the end of the show. And don’t forget: Dressing up is allowed, even for the parents!
REUTTE/Tyrol
Procession across the Obermarkt to the carnival mile in the Untermarkt with bars, bar carts, small stalls, food stalls. Everything takes place under the open sky. Numerous carnival clubs from the Außerfern and the neighbouring Allgäu show themselves from their most colourful and creative side.
